Canva for Nonprofits

Summary

Canva for Nonprofits provides free Canva Pro / Teams features (up to 50 members per organisation) to eligible nonprofits, including brand-kit, premium templates, background-removal, and the full content-creation stack. The eligibility explicitly excludes political organisations, 501(c)(4) social-welfare groups, and 501(c)(6) trade/business leagues — making it unavailable to most advocacy organisations.

Canva for Nonprofits provides free access to Canva’s Pro / Teams feature set (premium templates, brand kit, background-removal, magic-resize, content scheduler, social-media management, video creation, presentation design) for up to ~50 members per organisation [source: canva-nonprofits]. The program is administered directly by Canva, with verification done by Canva’s own team or via a partner [source: canva-nonprofits].

The eligibility is strictly tied to recognised charitable status: 501(c)(3) in the US, registered charity in the UK, and equivalents internationally. The program explicitly excludes political organisations and organisations whose primary purpose is influencing legislation, as well as 501(c)(4) social-welfare groups and 501(c)(6) trade / business leagues [source: canva-nonprofits]. A non-partisan 501(c)(3) that does some advocacy as a secondary activity can qualify; a 501(c)(4) advocacy-focused org cannot.

For a campaigning org, this is the same exclusion zone as Google for Nonprofits / Microsoft for Nonprofits: a hard “no” for partisan or pure-lobbying organisations, with the bar slightly stricter than TechSoup because 501(c)(4) is excluded explicitly.

Freeing up the design / social-media creation workflow for a 501(c)(3) non-partisan nonprofit (the program is one of the most generous design-stack donations available, with 50 free Pro seats); confirming that 501(c)(4) / political / lobbying organisations are excluded.
