LUCHA and the Fatshimétrie Campaign — ICNC monograph
A 2010s/2020s case study by the International Center on Nonviolent Conflict covering the DRC citizen movement Lutte pour le Changement (LUCHA, founded 2012 in Goma by young activists frustrated by insecurity, weak public services and unfulfilled political promises) and its Fatshimétrie accountability campaign — an annual barometer that rates the gap between President Tshisekedi’s stated promises and actual governance, blending the president’s nickname (Fatshi) with “métrie” (measurement) and inspired in concept by Mali’s Mali-Mètre. The campaign publishes verifiable, data-driven thematic reports on governance to fill the information vacuum and constrain executive discretion. As of the source’s publication the campaign was described as ongoing rather than closed.
